The Next 7 Days (May 8-14)

Check out what’s planned for the upcoming week:

MAY 8: Bring your WIP to work alongside other (socially distant) writers at the O.C. Writers’ Monday Morning write-in at High Ground Coffee House (25522 Marguerite Parkway, #102, Mission Viejo). O.C. Writers member Barb DeLong generally arrives around 8 a.m. and leads a breakout discussion at 11 a.m. for those who want to take a break. High Ground offers indoor and outdoor work tables, but all are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The shop follows current Covid rules. For more information, send an email to Barb at info@oc-writers.com.

MAY 11: Lake Forest Writers’ Roundtable discussion group, featuring writing and publishing business topics, takes place from 10:45 a.m. to noon on Zoom. Meetings are free and open to the public. To receive Zoom access information, email Roundtable leader Barb DeLong at delongbarb15@gmail.com.

MAY 13: The O.C. Romance Writers (formerly the O.C. branch of the Romance Writers of America) will meet at 10 a.m. for its monthly meeting. Check online for more information. http://ocromancewriters.org.

We do our best to present accurate and up-to-date information, but it would still be wise to double-check before attending.

  1. Might you consider McAlester Oklahoma part of your area? If so, I’d like to be part of your group. I have 14 novels in print from 7 different publishers. I do not self-publish. I need the validation of a publisher willing to invest in my work. Also, as a former newspaper reporter, I value the eagle eyes of editors, the more the better. I do not have an agent. Had nibbles and I have nibbled, but neither they nor I took the bite. Currently, WHITTAKER is under contract with Black Opal Publishing and I am negotiating with another publisher for a true crime I had completed, fictionalized, now, at the publisher’s suggestion, am rewriting using actual names and locations.

    1. Hello! Anyone is welcome to participate in our Facebook group and attend any of our events. Our in-person events all happen in Orange County, Calif., but if you find yourself in the neighborhood, we would love to include you.
