Want to share an excerpt of your published work or work-in-progress in an upcoming FRIDAY READS spotlight, as well as receive some free publicity on our social media channels? If so, we’re now accepting requests for dates between May 7 and July 30.
If you’re interested in participating, check the posting schedule on the SUBMISSIONS page, select an available date, and email a request for the date to info@oc-writers.com. The request must include the Orange County city where you live and/or work within Orange County and the email address that is associated with your subscription to the O.C. Writers’ mailing list. The subscription is required at the time of the request and on the day of the posting.
All local writers are eligible to be considered for any open date, even writers who have posted before. Just choose a date that’s at least 60 days from your previous spotlight.
If the request for a date is approved, the following must be submitted 7 DAYS before the date of the posting:
- a 1,250-word max. passage from a fiction or non-fiction work, and it can be published, unpublished, or even a work-in-progress
- a 100-word max author bio, which must include the O.C. city where you live and/or work (because this is intended to showcase O.C. writers)
- an author headshot
- a book cover image, if the excerpt is part of a published book
- one buy link, if the excerpt is part of a published book
- the genre that best describes excerpt
- your Twitter name, if you would like to be tagged when the post is shared on social media.
