Joint Meeting of O.C. Sisters in Crime and the So Cal Chapter of Mystery Writers of America
Active agents from the ATF — the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives – will be the special guest speakers when O.C. Sisters in Crime and the So Cal Chapter of Mystery Writers of America hold their annual joint luncheon meeting on Sunday, August 28.
The public is invited, at no charge, to attend the event, which will be held at O.C. SinC’s usual meeting place, the Community Room of the Irvine Ranch Water District.
A buffet lunch will be served at 1 p.m. It will be followed by a discussion of true tales – actual cases – by the ATF agents.
A division of the Department of Justice, the ATF partners with local agencies to investigate the illegal use and trafficking of firearms, the use and storage of explosives, arson and bombings, and more. (It was an ATF weapons trace that led to the identity of the man who reportedly purchased the assault rifles used in last year’s mass shooting in San Bernardino that killed 14 and wounded 22.)
