SEEKING CRITS AND READS is a free monthly opportunity for O.C. Writers to find critique partners, beta readers, and book reviewers, and this month, we’re switching up how we do it to make it simpler than ever.
If you’re looking for feedback, just post your request in the comments below.
What’s allowed?
Requests for critique partners, beta readers, and honest reviews on books supplied by the author.
What should the request entail?
A brief explanation of what you’re looking for, which should at least include your genre and contact information.
May I make multiple requests?
Yes!
And that’s it. So simple, right? If there’s someone out there who can help you get the feedback you need, we want to help you two connect. After all, we’re all in this crazy writerly world together, so let’s make the best of it.
SEEKING CRITS AND READS runs the third Wednesday of the month. For more information, email info@oc-writers.com.
Looking for an Hispanic “sensitivity” reader, ideally a descendant of an early California family or familiar with that history. The novel is set in 1845 Alta California. The whole book is 90,000 words, but only about half the chapters have the protagonists interacting with the Californios. (The female character is at Sutter’s Fort most of the time, and every-other chapter is her story.) Would appreciate any referral to someone.
I’m looking for alpha readers for Engaño, the next book in the DeWitt Agency Adventures series. “Alpha readers” look at technical issues in the story — structure, pacing, character development, continuity, and so on.
If you’re familiar with my DeWitt Agency Files series, you may remember Carson, the female ex-cop who provides muscle for that series’s lead. In the Adventures series, she’s the star. It’s action/adventure; there’s violence and a goodly amount of salty language.
Reply if you’re interested. I will, of course, be happy to reciprocate if you wish. I’ve already sent out a couple of copies that I’m hoping to get back by late May. Thanks in advance.
