Preparing for the Feast

The O.C. Writers Monthly Update

by Megan Haskell

Many writers, whether they sign up for NaNoWriMo or not, are using this month of feasting to double down, not only on food, but on their writing. In the spirit of productivity, we’re keeping things short and sweet so you can get back to work.

The blog is filled to the brim this month with great content to satisfy your hunger for writing and publishing knowledge. New contributor Gabrielle Mathieu will discuss the benefits of sharing the workload in a publishing co-op, while fan favorite Jeff Michaels discusses the nutritional value of today’s cornucopia of story options. Plus, Greta Boris will be sharing her new quick and dirty plot mapping process, complete with a downloadable spreadsheet. It’s a feast for the eyes.

Meanwhile, our usual Welcome Mat Wednesday Facebook thread will be devoted to posting word counts and cheering each other on. If you’re doing NaNoWriMo, make sure you check in! And if you’re not, maybe you’ll be inspired by your fellow writers’ commitment to insanity.

The only in-person event we want to mention is a panel of local authors (Greta is one of them) who’ll be sharing their writing tips at the monthly Sisters In Crime meeting in Irvine on Sunday, November 26th. Check Facebook for details.

Next Month

It’s the Jolly Holidays at OC Writers. What makes you say Ho Ho Ho? How do you write humor, or warm the hearts of your readers? How do you stay happy as a writer? Articles are due November 25th. Follow the link for Submission Guidelines.
