SEPTEMBER 27: Bring your WIP to work alongside other (socially distant) writers at the O.C. Writers’ Monday Morning write-in at Patch Coffee (29100 Portola Pkwy, Lake Forest). O.C. Writers Community Director Barb DeLong generally arrives around 8:30 a.m. and leads a breakout discussion at 11 a.m. for those who want to take a break. Patch offers indoor and outdoor work tables, but all are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The shop follows current Covid rules. SEPTEMBER 29: Susi Q Senior Center will present “How to Write a Publishable Novel,” an in-person, six-week course taught by novelist Lynette Brasfield, at 10 a.m. at its center, 380 Third St., Laguna Beach. $66, and masks and proof of vaccination are required. https://www.thesusiq.org.

SEPTEMBER 30: O.C. Writers’ weekly Roundtable discussion group, featuring writing and publishing business topics, takes place from 11 a.m. to noon on Zoom. Meetings are free and open to the public. To receive Zoom access information, email Roundtable leader Casey Dorman at info@oc-writers.com.

SEPTEMBER 30: The Foothill Ranch branch of the Orange County Public Library will present a discussion with guest author Nancy Brashear at 10:30 a.m. Free and open to the public. The library is at 27002 Cabriole Way. www.ocpl.org/libraries/foothill-ranch.

OCTOBER 2: The California Writers Club’s Orange County Branch will feature “We Are What Happens to Us,” a presentation by author Jasmin Iolani Hakes, at its monthly meeting. calwritersorangecounty.org.
