SEPTEMBER 13: Bring your WIP to work alongside other (socially distant) writers at the O.C. Writers’ Monday Morning write-in at Patch Coffee (29100 Portola Pkwy, Lake Forest). O.C. Writers Community Director Barb DeLong generally arrives around 8:30 a.m. and leads a breakout discussion at 11 a.m. for those who want to take a break. Patch offers indoor and outdoor work tables, but all are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The shop follows current Covid rules. SEPTEMBER 14: O.C. Writers’ newest weekly write-in takes place 10 a.m. to noon at Arvida Book Co., 115 W. Main St., Tustin. Bring your WIP to work alongside other (socially distant) writers at this free event, hosted by write-in leader Dawn Hubbard. Questions? Email Dawn at info@oc-writers.com.

SEPTEMBER 16: O.C. Writers’ weekly Roundtable discussion group, featuring writing and publishing business topics, takes place from 11 a.m. to noon on Zoom. Meetings are free and open to the public. To receive Zoom access information, email Roundtable leader Casey Dorman at info@oc-writers.com.

SEPTEMBER 16: The Foothill Ranch branch of the Orange County Public Library will present a discussion with guest author Nancy Brashear at 10:30 a.m. Free and open to the public. The library is at 27002 Cabriole Way. www.ocpl.org/libraries/foothill-ranch.

SEPTEMBER 17-19: The Southern California Writers’ Conference will present SCWC*LA/Irvine 18, including advance submission reader opportunities, workshops, and a Saturday night banquet. writersconference.com.

SEPTEMBER 18: Book Carnival will host an event with author Matt Witten to discuss his novel The Necklace at 4 p.m. Check the website for more information. http://www.annesbookcarnival.com/events.

SEPTEMBER 18: Book Carnival will host a virtual event with authors Alyssa Maxwell (Murder at Wakehurst) and Dianne Freeman (A Fiance’s Guide to First Wives and Murder) at 7 p.m. https://www.annesbookcarnival.com/events.
