JULY 12 Bring your WIP to work alongside other (socially distant) writers at the O.C. Writers’ Monday Morning write-in at Patch Coffee (29100 Portola Pkwy, Lake Forest). O.C. Writers Community Director Barb DeLong generally arrives around 8:30 a.m. and leads a breakout discussion at 11 a.m. for those who want to take a break. Patch offers indoor and outdoor work tables, but all are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The shop follows current Covid rules. JULY 14: Book Carnival will host a virtual event for Palm Springs Noir with Ken Layne, Barbara DeMarco-Barrett, and Eric Beetner in conversation with Maddie Margarita at 7 p.m. Check the website for more information. http://www.annesbookcarnival.com/events.
JULY 15: O.C. Writers’ weekly Roundtable discussion group, featuring writing and publishing business topics, takes place from 11 a.m. to noon on Zoom. Meetings are free and open to the public. To receive Zoom access information, email Roundtable leader Casey Dorman at info@oc-writers.com.
JULY 15: Foothill Ranch Library Writers Support & Critique Group Zoom meeting. Read your work and be prepared to provide critique to others. This free group meets weekly from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Contact stella.carruth@occr.ocgov.com for more information and for the Zoom invite.
JULY 16: Summer Storytime in Old Towne Orange, a free children’s program, will feature special guest Mike Escobedo of Orange Plaza Review at 9 a.m. in front of Tiddlywinks OC, 129 N. Glassell St., Orange. http://tiddlywinksoc.com.
