Hi, writers — Welcome to what will be a monthlong PREP-TOBER: 31 DAYS OF SHARING WRITING TIPS & RESOURCES series of prompts. Since many of us are gearing up for National Novel Writing Month next month, I thought it might be fun and helpful to pull together our collective writing wisdom. Also, I’ll post the same prompts over in our Facebook group. You’re welcome to post there as well for the folks who don’t check the website.
HERE’S TODAY’S PROMPT:
When you’re preparing for NaNoWriMo or another major writing project, what tips or suggestions do you have for making extra time in your day or week for writing?
Please share your tips and suggestions in the comments.
The best way for me to make the time for my writing project is to create a routine based on a schedule that is slightly different each day, but always includes specific hours for my WIP. In the past, it was the last on the list of priorities and therefore it was usually neglected. Planning each day and making writing a priority equal to any other is helping me meet goals.
That’s a great strategy, Cee Cee. I’m reposting my note from the Facebook group:
I stop doing housework. (I’m only partly kidding…) I do make-ahead meals and double up on cooking (freezing half) to make meal prep for the family dinners easier. I don’t plan for any doctor/hair/etc. appointments during that time.
