Looking for some extra motivation to accomplish your writerly goals? Or, do you need a little encouragement to get you past a slump? You’ll find both and more in the “May the Muse Be with You” monthlong productivity event, which officially kicks off on May 1.*
The event will be divided into three parts, with separate Facebook Event Pages for each:
Part I: 5/1-5/14 (find it HERE)
Part II: 5/15-5/28 (coming later)
Part III: 5/29-5/31 (coming later)
Here’s how the free online program will work:
- Sometime between now and April 30, find the post titled “Declare Your Goal” on the the Part I Facebook Event Page in the Discussion area and add a comment expressing the goal you want to accomplish. Maybe it’s to write a whole first draft, maybe it’s to revise your final draft, or maybe it’s something in between. It’s totally up to you. (Why should you do this? It may help because you’ll feel more accountable.)
- On the three days leading up to the event’s launch, we’ll have Countdown Posts where we can exchange ideas, suggestions, and Jedi mind tricks in the comments section that are aimed at preparing us for the mission ahead.
- On May 1 through May 14, we’ll have Check-in Posts in Part I of the event and this will be where we can share our progress or frustration, cheer others or commiserate, and share funny gifs and memes.
- On May 15 through May 28, we’ll have daily Check-in Posts in Part II of the event.
- On May 29 through May 31, we’ll have daily Check-in Posts in Part III of the event.
- On June 1, we’ll open up the Winner’s Circle post in Part III for people to share their success stories.

* Running a Facebook Event of this length is something we haven’t tried before, so it’s a bit of an experiment. The program is being divided into three parts to accommodate Facebook’s time limits on events. As we go, we may encounter unforeseen obstacles that require us to make adjustments, and if that happens, we ask for your patience and understanding in advance.
