Can a Good Book Description Resurrect Your Sales?

The obvious answer to the above question is yes. A good book description can improve your sales. But most authors I know, myself included, often find it more difficult to write the back cover copy than the book.

Enter Bryan Cohen and his courses, services, and webinars.

Bryan is a fiction author, like many of us, but he’s also a copy writing pro. And the two are extremely divergent skills. How often have you asked an author to tell you about their book and they launch into a convoluted, overly detailed plot synopsis?

You know they’re a talented and proficient writer. After all, they penned 80,000 or so words and went through the editing process with a pro. You’ve heard the story is riveting, but now you can’t hold back the yawns.

What that author fails to realize is, you don’t want the details! You want to know what’s in it for you. Why should you spend time and money on their book?

The book description is the bait on the hook. We can’t reel readers in until they bite.

Realizing my own woeful copywriting abilities, I signed up for Bryan’s course, Book Description Mastery. It was eye-opening. Using his methods, I rewrote the descriptions for my published works and also wrote a description for The Sanctity of Sloth – book three in The Seven Deadly Sins Series, coming out this August.

While the descriptions may not be perfect, they are light years ahead of what they were. But don’t take my word for it.

Bryan will dissect and rewrite two lucky authors’ descriptions in a Facebook Live event on Thursday, April 12th at 1:00.

If you’re reading before that date and time, head over to the page and enter your description in the comments. You might be chosen for a rewrite!

If you’re reading this after that date, don’t despair, you can watch it here.

After you watch the event, come back and tell us what you learned in the comments below.
