The holidays are over, the new year has begun, and we here at O.C. Writers are preparing for a fantastic 2017.
Are you?
This month, the blog will focus on goal-setting: how, when, and why. Maybe even a where and a who or two.
O.C. Writers Blog
Greta and I have taken a hard look at your survey responses, reviewed our mission statement (read it here) and have decided to make a few directional changes.
First, the blog will be expanding to include some new voices, including more experienced writers to discuss the topics you asked for: story structure, character development, pathways to publication, author branding and websites, and others. With that in mind, the blog submission process is changing. See the Submissions page for further details.
February will be our month of LOVE, and I am now open for February submissions. Send your 500 – 1000 word article to megan@ocwriters.network by January 28th for consideration.
Four Week Challenge #1: GRIT
O.C. Writers is excited to launch our first free FOUR WEEK CHALLENGE beginning January 16th. The program is designed to help you move from aspiring writer to author by fostering more of what every author needs: GRIT. Every week for four weeks you’ll receive a practical step to take. Topics are:
G – Goal Setting
R – Review the Basics
I – Imagine the End
T – Tenacity
We’re also starting a private Facebook Group for GRIT members only where you’ll receive accountability and encouragement from others. Greta will have more information about the challenge on Thursday, but don’t wait! Sign up now – click here.
An Exciting Year Ahead
We’re working hard to make O.C. Writers the premier resource for Southern California writers of all stripes. Here’s wishing you a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!

Legend has it, I was born with a book in my hands. Thirty-ish years later, I’m a stay-at-home-mom who prefers a good story over doing the dishes. Only now, I’m building my own fantasy worlds! I’m the author of the Amazon best selling series,The Sanyare Chronicles, and Program Director of O.C. Writers. You can find me on my website at www.meganhaskell.com, Facebook, and Twitter.
