Can you believe it’s December, already? Where has the year gone?

This month, the O.C. Writers blog will be talking about generosity and giving back to our writing community. ‘Tis the season, after all.

But it’s also something the O.C. Writers do throughout the year; you, me, and everyone who participates through the website, Facebook group, and in-person events. We strive to openly share our knowledge and support our local authors at all levels. Certainly, it’s the driving force behind this blog and our organizational mission:

To create a supportive and informative environment for published and aspiring authors, poets, screenwriters, and other literary creatives in the Orange County, CA area.

In the spirit of giving, Greta and I have a few exciting new FREE resources coming up in 2017:

Online Critique Group!

Back by popular demand, the O.C. Writers online critique group will be relaunching in January. Stay tuned for more details in the next few weeks.

G.R.I.T. Challenge

Every author needs some grit to walk the winding path to publication. To help you on your journey, Greta and I are launching our first four-week challenge in January. Each week, for four weeks, participants will receive an assignment that will move them one step closer to publication. Then, with the help of a dedicated Facebook support group, we’ll straighten, smooth and pave that treacherous road. Topics will include:

• Goal-Setting
• Review the basics
• Imagine yourself at the finish line
• Tenacity

In-Person Read and Critique

Jan Draper, women’s fiction writer, and Skye Pratt Epperson, who has an MFA and writes professionally for wellness publications, have teamed up with the O.C.Public Library to bring you a Read and Review program. If you’re looking for some in-person support to take your writing to the next level, make sure you check it out!
