September: Back to School and Back to Basics

The O.C. Writers Monthly Update

by Megan Haskell

I can hardly believe it’s been a month since we started this blog. I hope you’re as excited as I am about our wonderful contributors and the regular monthly content we’ve lined up!

Back to Basics

Greta and I are working hard to make sure we’re bringing valuable information and resources to the group each week. This month, we’re getting “Back to Basics” and focusing on the fundamentals. All of our regular contributors will be back, including Dr. Diane Rogers with The Write Mind, Dr. J.C. De Ladurantey as The Crime Doctor, and Roland Denzel with another great post on keeping healthy as a writer. Greta and I will also continue to share our journeys in traditional and indie publishing. And, of course, I hope you had a chance to read PJ Colando’s latest post about the Pen on Fire Speakers Series.

Other News this Month

The Southern California Writers’ Conference (SCWC) will be coming to Irvine on September 23 – 25. If you haven’t already, make sure you sign up for our newsletter and you’ll receive a coupon code for an extra $25 discount on full conference registration! This is an O.C. Writers subscriber exclusive, what we hope will be the first of many headed your way.

We’ve also partnered with the Katie Wheeler Library in Irvine to bring you writing workshops and programs. Our latest program sponsored by the Orange County Library is a Read and Review. It will be a great opportunity to share your work with peers and receive thoughtful criticism. You can find out more by clicking here.

That’s it for now. Have a wonderful and productive September!
